Wolverhampton Wanderes vs Arsenal

Arsenal’s pursuit of their first Premier League title in two decades is on the line as they head to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest condemned Wolverhampton to a fourth consecutive Premier League game without a win (D2, L2), landing a knockout blow on their quest to secure European qualification. Stuck in the lower reaches, albeit miles away from the bottom three, Wolves have nothing but pride left to play for in the remainder of the season. That could make them dangerous, yet back-to-back home league losses tell a different story. Gary O’Neil’s side dropped the lead on each occasion, highlighting their porous defense as the team’s weak link. If there’s a side capable of breaking down Wolves’ rearguard, it’s Arsenal, a side they have failed to shut out in their last 32 meetings across all competitions, including a 2-1 defeat in December’s reverse fixture.

That win extended Arsenal’s winning H2H streak to five matches, and they need to make it six if they’re to stay alive in the Premier League title race. However, the Gunners’ morale has taken two massive blows in the past seven days. After a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa knocked them down from a near-perfect league record in 2024 (W10, D1), Bayern Munich crashed them out of the Champions League quarter-finals in midweek. A gut-wrenching 1-0 loss at the Allianz Stadium marked Arsenal’s third scoring blank on their last five competitive travels, suggesting another win at Molineux isn’t a foregone conclusion. But this venue has been a happy hunting ground fo Mikel Arteta’s side as they’ve won three of their four away H2Hs ‘to nil’ since 2020 (L1).
