Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are set to trade tackles at Molineux Stadium in a mid-table Premier League fixture.

After landing just one win in his first five Premier League matches in charge of Wolverhampton (L4), Bruno Lage has guided his side to three victories across their last four league outings (D1). Wolves’ noticeable upturn in form has steered them away from the drop zone and straight to mid-table, where they could leapfrog ninth-placed Everton with a win here. However, that might be easier said than done, as the ‘Wanderers’ have only picked up one triumph across their previous six Premier League H2Hs (D3, L2), losing both last season’s league duels by a single-goal margin. Wolves’ sloppy entries could pose another concern here, with only basement boys Norwich (1) netting fewer first-half goals than Lage’s side (2) in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Everton will be keen to put their October results firmly behind, having gone winless in all three Premier League fixtures last month (D1, L2). To make things worse, a 2-0 win over dead-last Norwich in late September represents Everton’s solitary success in five Premier League matches (D1, L3), as the Goodison Park powerbrokers start to run out of patience for Rafael Benitez. A brace of home losses to West Ham and Watford means the ‘Toffees’ could suffer three consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time since November 2020 under Carlo Ancelotti. Benitez himself has a point to prove here, having overseen his side succumbing to a humiliating 5-2 home loss to Watford last time out. It was the first time in his 349 Premier League matches in charge that a side coached by the Spaniard conceded five goals in a single game.
