Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brighton & Hove Albion

High-flying Brighton & Hove Albion head to Molineux to lock horns with out-of-sorts Wolverhampton Wanderers in a lopsided Premier League contest.
Despite being given only a few days to prepare his new side Wolverhampton for the new Premier League seasonafter replacing JulenLopetegui in the dugout, Gary O’Neil came close to holding Manchester United winless on the opening weekend. However, Wolves slipped to a narrow 1-0 loss at Old Trafford, which now means they’ve failed to get on the scoresheet in three of their last four top-flight matches (W1, L3). The impending return to Molineux could help the ‘Wanderers’ get off the mark after four victories in their final five home league games toward the end of the 2022/23 Premier League season (D1). Against this backdrop, the West Midlands heavyweights have only managed one win in their five Premier League home clashes against Brighton (D2, L2).
On the other hand, Brighton got their new top-flight campaign off to an electric start, thumping newly-promoted Luton Town 4-1 on the opening weekend to show last season’s European finish was no fluke. But manager Roberto De Zerbi faces the uphill task of replicating that feat in 2023/24 after losing standout midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo to Liverpool and Chelsea, respectively. And while his men come into proceedings having lost their last two away league fixtures by a combined score of 6-2, De Zerbi can draw inspiration from Brighton’s free-scoring form at Molineux. The ‘Seagulls’ have won back-to-back top-flight encounters against Wolves on the road, netting precisely three goals on both occasions. It’s also worth noting they’ve found the net on their last 14 Premier League travels.
