West Ham United vs Arsenal

An all-London Premier League showdown between West Ham United and Arsenal at the London Stadium will serve to round off Matchday 35 in England’s top-flight.

West Ham suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek Europa League action, taking their winless streak in all competitions to three matches (D1, L2). Indeed, these are tumultuous times for the ‘Hammers,’ who have turned from top-four contenders to Europa Conference League hopefuls. West Ham have lost four of their last seven Premier League fixtures (W2, D1), as many reverses as in their 14 in the competition beforehand. However, David Moyes’ men are unbeaten in their last six Premier League home outings (W4, D2), while they’ve found the net in 18 straight top-flight games at the London Stadium since a  1-0 loss against Everton in May 2021. Yet, the ‘Irons’ have lost 33 Premier League meetings with Arsenal, their worst record against a specific opponent in the competition.

On the other hand, Arsenal will be full of confidence following a brace of two-goal margin defeats over bitter rivals Chelsea and Manchester United in their last two league outings. A couple of eye-catching performances have not only helped the ‘Gunners’ halt a run of three Premier League defeats in a row, but it has re-established them in fourth in the table, two points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Playing in May has often been kind to Arsenal, as they’ve won more Premier League fixtures during this month (50) than any other side in the competition’s history. What’s more, Mikel Arteta’s men have only lost one of their last 13 Premier League away encounters against West Ham (W8, D4). Still, a return of two defeats from their three most recent league travels (W1) suggests Arsenal can ill-afford to get complacent.
