Turkey vs Armenia

Turkey and Armenia are set to square off at the Yeni Eskişehir Stadyumu in an exciting Euro 2024 qualifying match-up.

Keen to extend a three-point buffer from second-placed Armenia, Euro 2024 qualifying Group D leaders Turkey come into proceedings off the back of consecutive high-scoring wins over Latvia and Wales. As ‘late drama specialists,’ Stefan Kuntz’s men have netted precisely twice beyond the 60th minute in their last two qualifying outings to make it five victories in six matches (L1). Turkey’s rise to prominence has seen Knutz’s win record at the helm soar to 66.7%, accounting for the best win rate for any Turkey national team manager who has overseen at least 18 games. Adding to this tally against Armenia looks like a near-certainty, considering the ‘Crescent-Stars’ have emerged victorious in their last three H2Hs, scoring precisely two goals on each occasion.

In the meantime, Armenia’s effort to reach the European Championship finals for the first time since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s was off to a woeful start, with Turkey crushing them 2-1 on matchday one. But despite lacking their iconic footballer Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Oleksandr Petrakov’s men have won back-to-back Euro qualifiers since, including a standout 4-2 win at Wales on their last travel! That victory halted Armenia’s humiliating 12-game winless run on the road (D4, L8), but it’s still uncertain whether they can replicate another such performance against a more heavily fancied Turkey side. That’s mainly because they’ve conceded at least twice on their last seven international travels, while they’ve not kept a clean sheet away from home since a scoreless draw at North Macedonia in September 2021.
