Tottenham Hotspur vs Sevilla

Suwon World Cup Stadium is the venue as Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking pre-season friendly.

Tottenham Hotspur put the K-League All-Star Team to the sword in their opening pre-season friendly, pulling off an eye-catching 6-3 win. Antonio Conte’s men picked up where they left off last season when they pipped Arsenal and Manchester United to a top-four Premier League finish. Their brilliant form down the tail-end of the 2021/22 season included three consecutive league victories by an aggregate score of 9-0. With the summer acquisition of Richarlison from Everton, ‘Spurs’ will be an attacking force to be reckoned with, as witnessed by their impressive scoring run of late. They have bagged 3+ goals in three of their last four outings, which was the case in their most recent meeting with Sevilla (2-2).

In the meantime, Sevilla were La Liga title contenders for most of the 2021/22 season, but they ultimately had to settle for a fourth-place finish. Julen Lopetegui’s side capped off a decent last season with a narrow 1-0 home triumph over Athletic Bilbao, arresting a substandard run of four uneventful league draws. Low scoring has been a common theme in Sevilla’s recent fixtures, as each of the last five has featured under 2.5 total goals. By contrast, both previous H2Hs have seen both teams scoring in matches garnering 3+ overall goals (W1, D1). Unlike some recent years, the Andalusians have had a relatively quiet transfer window thus far, meaning Rafa Mir should be Lopetegui’s driving force up top.
