Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the venue as Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking Premier League fixture.

An eighth stoppage-time goal Tottenham conceded this season deprived them of two points as Everton held them to a goal-glutted 2-2 draw last weekend, allowing Aston Villa to leapfrog ‘Spurs’ into fourth. But with only two points separating the sides ahead of the kick-off, Ange Postecoglou’s men remain firmly in contention for a coveted Champions League finish, largely thanks to their formidable home form. Since a 2-1 loss to West Ham in early December, they’ve won their last four home league outings despite failing to keep a clean sheet on each occasion. Tottenham’s scoring prowess in North London reinforces Postecoglou’s hopes of avenging a dreadful 4-2 defeat in December’s reverse fixture against a Brighton side they had defeated in back-to-back top-flight H2Hs beforehand.

In the meantime, visiting Brighton delivered a perfect response to a disastrous 4-0 defeat at Luton Town on their last Premier League travel with a 4-1 humbling of Spurs’ fellow London rivals Crystal Palace in the previous round. A piece of history is up for grabs following the abovementioned triumph in the reverse fixture, with the ‘Seagulls’ bidding to post two consecutive Premier League wins against Tottenham for the first time. Achieving that feat hinges on defying an underwhelming five-game winless league streak on the road (D2, L3) and, more importantly, snapping a two-game scoring league drought outside East Sussex. However, upsetting the apple cart has been an issue for Brighton this season as they’ve lost four of the five away league matches they’ve started as betting outsiders (W1).
