Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich

MHPArena plays host to an exciting Bundesliga top-four six-pointer between third-placed Stuttgart and runners-up Bayern Munich.

After being stranded in relegation territory at this stage in three of their last four top-flight campaigns, Stuttgart have flipped the script this year and are on the cusp of securing Champions League qualification for the first time since 2009. Sebastian Hoeness’ men were second away from becoming the first team to beat new Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, only to concede a 96th-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw, extending their winless league run to two games (D1, L1). Back to the MHPArena, where they’ve only lost one league match since March 2023 (W12, D6), Die Schwaben will be out to right that wrong and avenge a disastrous 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture. However, that’s easier said than done, as they’ve lost their last 11 top-flight H2Hs at home!

Meanwhile, visiting Bayern Munich might have waved goodbye to their 11-year stranglehold on the Bundesliga. But their dream of winning a seventh Champions League title is still alive after drawing 2-2 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final tie earlier this week. Thomas Tuchel’s side gave up their four-game winning streak across all competitions in that match but maintained their impressive scoring run of 2+ goals in six of their last seven outings. With nothing but pride left to play for at the backend of the Bundesliga season, the Bavarians could take the field with an experimental line-up, bidding to find some consistency after alternating between different outcomes across their last six competitive travels (W2, D2, L2).
