Julian Naglesmann’s men came out on top of a nail-biting contest marred by a VAR controversy to set up their first quarter-final appearances at the Euros since 2016. Riding on an eye-catching eight-game unbeaten run (W6, D2), Die Mannschaft bid to take advantage of playing on home turf to end a 28-year title drought at the grandest continental stage. Worryingly for the Germans, they’ve won none of their last four meetings with Spain (D3, L1).
