Slovenia vs Norway

Stadion Stozice forms the backdrop as Slovenia and Norway go head-to-head in an intriguing Nations League Group B4 encounter.

Despite going from back-to-back Group B4 defeats to consecutive draws during the last international break, Slovenia enter this fixture unable to compete for the playoffs. Nailed to the bottom of the table, albeit one point adrift of third-placed Sweden, the Slovenias will be out to post their first Nations League win this term and bolster their bid to avoid relegation to League C. Although things are not looking bright from Matjaz Kek’s point of view, Slovenia’s scoreless draw with Norway in the reverse fixture can inspire the hosts. Indeed, that was the only time across Slovenia’s first four League B outings where they conceded less than two goals. But with one win from their last four home internationals (D1, L2), the Slovenians look doomed ahead of the kick-off.

In the meantime, except for the abovementioned 0-0 draw in Oslo, visiting Norway have won all three remaining Group B4 matches, each via a single-goal margin. Stale Solbakken’s side wouldn’t mind another narrow victory, as they come into this encounter leading this group, three points clear of second-placed Serbia. Bettering Serbia’s result against Sweden would seal Norway’s place in League A next season, meaning the visitors won’t take this trip lightly. The ‘Lions’ have registered five wins in their last seven away matches across various competitions (D1, L1) and boast an impressive H2H record against Slovenia (W6, D3, L1). Therefore, their chances of winning three consecutive games on foreign soil for the first time in 2022 look promising.
