Sevilla vs Granada

Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is the venue as Sevilla and Granada go head-to-head in a bottom-half La Liga clash.

Sevilla’s morale-boosting three-game winning La Liga streak ended last weekend with a 1-1 derby draw against crosstown rivals Betis, but they’ll take the field in high spirits, regardless. Quique Sanchez Flores’ men have only lost three times since Gameweek 22 (W6, D4) en route to establishing a comfortable 12-point cushion on the bottom three, making relegation an unlikely prospect ahead of the season finale. Extending a two-game winning H2H run against Granada would mathematically confirm Sevilla’s top-flight status, and with both those wins seeing ‘Los Rojiblancos’ score 3+ goals, it could be a stylish triumph as well. Flores has dramatically improved Sevilla’s home form since taking over the reins in mid-December, with the hosts winning three of their last four league outings at Pizjuan (L1), each via a single-goal margin.

In contrast to Sevilla’s resurrection under their third manager this season, Granada’s La Liga status hangs by a thread. The visitors begin this round second from bottom, ten points adrift of safety despite stringing together a three-game unbeaten league streak for the first time this season (W2, D1). Two wins across their last three La Liga matches are as many as they had in their first 30 (W2, D8, L20), but it could still be too little too late for the Nazaries. With three of their final five league fixtures coming against the bottom-eight sides, there’s hope for Jose Ramon Sandoval’s side that they could miraculously avoid relegation. However, describing Granada’s away form as woeful would be an understatement, as they take this trip searching for their first top-flight win on the road this season (D3, L13)!
