Serbia vs Denmark

A place in the UEFA Nations League quarter-final is on the line as Serbia and Denmark go head-to-head at Stadion Dubocica.

Serbia recovered from a disastrous 3-0 defeat at Spain to hold Switzerland to a nail-biting 1-1 draw last week and ensure they remain in Division A after securing a maiden top-flight promotion in the previous Nations League cycle. However, Dragan Stojkovic cannot be proud of his team’s form, with a 2-0 home victory against the Swiss remaining Serbia’s only win since the start of their ill-fated Euro 2024 campaign (D4, L3). Despite such a dreadful patch, beating Denmark in Group A4’s finale would see them qualify for the quarter-finals against the odds. Serbia’s four-game unbeaten home streak on home soil (W2, D2), including a 0-0 draw against European champions Spain in round one, can inspire confidence around Stojkovic’s camp.

That will hardly faze visiting Denmark, especially after a 2-0 win in September’s reverse fixture strengthened their formidable H2H record against Serbia (W4, D1). The Danes thumped this opposition 3-1 in their only previous competitive meeting on Serbian soil in November 2014. The visitors don’t need a win to secure quarter-final qualification. However, it would be a welcoming boost as they head into proceedings having failed to win their last three internationals (D1, L2), including a 2-1 home defeat to Spain earlier this month. The situation is far from ideal when factoring in Denmark’s abysmal run of seven consecutive away matches without a win (D4, L3) since beating continental minnows San Marino in October 2023.
