RB Leipzig vs Werder Bremen

Red Bull Arena sets the stage for a handsomely-looking Bundesliga clash between RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen.

With the Bundesliga earning an additional spot in next season’s Champions League, Leipzig’s sixth consecutive appearance at Europe’s top table is already a done deal. However, Marco Rose’s men have refused to let complacency creep in, holding TSG Hoffenheim to a 1-1 draw despite being reduced to ten men to extend their unbeaten league run to nine games (W7, D2). Equally impressive on home turf, Die Roten Bullen have racked up five wins across their last six league outings at the Red Bull Arena (D1), increasing the likelihood of a seventh consecutive home win against Werder in the Bundesliga. Rose’s troops are unforgiving at this venue, having tallied an eye-catching 39 goals in their 16 top-flight home matches en route to equalling the club’s record for the most goals scored after that amount of home games.

In the meantime, Werder Bremen pulled off a respectable 2-2 home draw against Borussia Monchengladbach last time out but still gave up a two-game winning league streak. That result took Werder’s point haul to 38, accounting for their highest tally after 32 matches since the 2018/19 campaign. Indeed, Ole Werner’s lads have only lost one of their last five Bundesliga games (W2, D2) to maintain hopes of securing their first top-seven finish in a decade. With only three points separating them from seventh-placed Freiburg, the visitors have a legitimate reason for their lofty ambitions, though their travel sickness could throw a spanner in the works. They’ve emerged victorious from only one of their last five away league games (D1, L3) while conceding ten goals along the way!
