PSG vs Troyes
Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to return to winning ways in Ligue 1 when they take on bottom-half Troyes at the Parc des Princes.
Newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions were left fuming last weekend, as they squandered a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at Strasbourg, albeit they’ve extended their unbeaten league streak to six matches (W4, D2). But PSG’s complacency across the last two Ligue 1 outings that witnessed them score first only to draw afterwards hints that ‘Les Parisiens’ may already be thinking about next season. Head coach Maurizio Pochettino, who could depart Paris in the summer, will be eager to get his men back to winning ways against a Troyes side they’ve beaten in their last eight top-flight H2Hs. Moreover, Paris have won 27 of their last 29 home matches against newly-promoted sides (D2), last losing such match-up in 2010.
On the other hand, Troyes pulled off a crucial 3-0 home triumph over dethroned champions Lille last time out to arrest a run of four winless league games (D1, L3) and build a five-point lead on 18th-placed Saint-Etienne. But with three matchdays left, they can ill-afford to get complacent, especially considering they’ve lost five of their last seven away matches in Ligue 1 (W1, D1), including the most recent two by a single-goal margin. The away goals have been in short supply for Troyes in 2022, with Bruno Irles’ men netting one or fewer in seven of their eight Ligue 1 road trips this calendar year.
