PSG vs Nice

Paris Saint-Germain and Nice are set to trade tackles in an exciting Coupe de France quarter-final tie at the Parc des Princes.

Though they’re the record-time Coupe de France winners (14), PSG have not won the title since 2020/21, mounting pressure on manager Luis Enrique to break that duck. Paris’ cup run last season ended against none other than Nice, with the team from the Riviera ousting Les Parisiens via penalties in the round of 16. Enrique’s men have since blown hot and cold across four top-flight H2Hs versus this opposition (W2, L2), losing their league encounter at home earlier this season. But since a 3-2 H2H defeat in mid-September, perennial Ligue 1 champions have gone from strength to strength at the Parc des Princes, racking up 12 wins and four draws in 16 home fixtures. Yet, back-to-back scoring stalemates across their last two home outings mean they can’t take this assignment lightly.

Days of Nice’s dominance under up-and-coming manager Francesco Farioli seem long gone, with Los Aiglons losing four of their five league matches in the build-up to this trip (D1). While Nice’s league form in 2024 has been concerning (W1, D2, L5), they’ve excelled in the Coupe de France. After surviving a penalty shoot-out drama against second-tier Auxerre in the opening round, they squeezed past Bordeaux 3-2 before trouncing fellow top-flight rivals Montpellier 4-1 to set up this tie. Taking PSG in Paris is the last thing the visitors needed after only managing one win on their last eight road trips to face Ligue 1 opposition (D2, L5). What’s worse, they failed to score in five of those eight games, casting further doubt on their hopes of reaching the semis.
