PSG vs Le Havre

Paris Saint-Germain’s off-season tour gets underway against newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Le Havre at the Campus PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain became the most successful team in Ligue 1 history by lifting an 11th top-flight title under Christophe Galtier’s stewardship last term. However, another underwhelming Champions League campaign halted Galtier’s tenure at the Parc des Princes as new boss Luis Enrique braces himself for his touchline debut. Enrique’s first task will be to arrest PSG’s frustrating two-game winless streak (D1, L1). Interestingly, ‘Les Parisiens’ went winless in both matches despite drawing first blood, highlighting their backline as the team’s weakest link. Adding to this sentiment, they’ve only managed one clean sheet across their last eight games. To their credit, they conceded over 1.5 goals just twice in that sequence.

Meanwhile, Le Havre secured Ligue 1 promotion for the first time since 2008, finishing atop the Ligue 2 table in 2022/23, courtesy of a final-day 1-0 home triumph over Dijon. That victory ended their abysmal three-game winless league run (D1, L2), helping them leave runners-up Metz three points behind. Inspired by a title-winning season, Luka Elsner’s men have gone from strength to strength in their early pre-season, dismantling Slovenian outfit Triglav 9-2 in their opening summer friendly before thrashing fellow French rivals Caen 3-1 last time out. In stark contrast to their free-scoring summer form, Le Havre had found goals at a premium down the final stretch of last season, bagging one or fewer in five straight matches.
