Norway vs Scotland

Ullevall Stadion is the venue as Norway and Scotland go head-to-head in a potentially decisive Euro 2024 qualifier for the home nation.

Coming into matchday three, Norway find themselves on the brink of disaster, having only earned a single point from their first two Euro 2024 qualifiers in March. Securing a victory in this match becomes crucial if they hope to end a 24-year absence from major international finals, with their only previous appearance occurring in Euro 2000, spanning the 63-year history of the UEFA European Championships. Stale Solbakken’s men aim to break their streak of four winless competitive matches, where they have struggled to score more than one goal in each game. Notably, Erling Haaland, coming off a triumphant performance in the recent UEFA Champions League final, is likely to be even more motivated, despite not having scored for his national team since last September.

On the other hand, Scotland’s bid to secure back-to-back appearances at major finals has been off to a flying start as they’ve won both opening Group A matches by an aggregate score of 5-0, including a stunning 2-0 home victory over Spain last time out. Although significant changes have undoubtedly occurred since Scotland’s previous visit to this venue in August 2009, which resulted in a resounding 4-0 defeat, it remains challenging to overlook their recent record of only one victory in their last six competitive away matches against teams currently ranked within FIFA’s top 50 (D3, L2 – 90 minutes). Steve Clarke’s side can find some comfort in their decent four-game H2H run against Norway (W2, D1, L1) and the fact they managed two clean sheets in their last three meetings.
