Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

St James’ Park is the venue as high-flying Newcastle United and underachieving Brighton & Hove Albion go head-to-head in an exciting Premier League encounter.

It’s too late for Newcastle United’s bid to secure back-to-back Champions League qualifications. But the Magpies are on the verge of reaching Europa League football after winning three of their last four league outings (L1). Eddie Howe’s men noticeably scored 4+ goals in each win in that stretch, setting themselves up nicely for Brighton’s visit as they aim to avenge a 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture. St James’ Park is a fortress again, with Newcastle going unbeaten in all seven home league matches since the start of February (W4, D3), including two consecutive four-goal margin wins in the build-up to this clash. Further confidence comes from winning their last two home meetings with Brighton ‘to one.’

Meanwhile, Brighton arrested a disastrous six-game winless Premier League run (D2, L4) with a hard-earned 1-0 home win against fourth-placed Aston Villa last time out. Stranded in mid-table, they have nothing but pride left to play for, which could make them an unpleasant opposition regardless of their embarrassing away form. Indeed, the Seagulls have won none of their last seven games on hostile turf across all competitions (D2, L5), failing to get on the scoresheet on five occasions! Roberto De Zerbi’s men have only won one Premier League away match since the start of 2024 (D3, L5), averaging 0.37 goals per game across those winless outings!
