MK Dons vs Leicester City

Resurgent Premier League tenants Leicester City take a trip to the Stadium MK to encounter third-tier side MK Dons in the EFL Cup fourth round.

Stuck in the League One relegation zone after winning a mere 24% of their league matches this term (5/21), MK Dons relieved manager Liam Manning of his duties earlier this month. Interim boss Dean Lewington marked his touchline debut with an underwhelming 4-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers in the EFL Trophy but then inspired his team to a morale-boosting 2-0 win at Portsmouth last time out. Back at home turf, where they’re winless in back-to-back games ahead of this match (D1, L1), the ‘Dons’ will need nothing short of a miracle to stun top-tier rivals Leicester. But with three of MK Dons’ last four competitive home fixtures seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, the Stadium MK crowd could be in for a treat.

Meanwhile, Leicester City shared the spoils with Ligue 1 outfit Troyes in a tepid 0-0 draw in their only mid-season friendly, making it four clean sheets in a row. Indeed, Brendan Rodgers’ men had hit their stride on the cusp of the World Cup break, stringing together three consecutive domestic victories by 2+ goals ‘to nil,’ including a 3-0 demolition of Newport in the previous EFL Cup round. On top of that, the ‘Foxes’ have won their last three competitive away matches by an aggregate score of 8-0, netting at least two goals on each occasion. Another clean sheet is on the cards, with Leicester registering a shutout in three of their four meetings with MK Dons overall (W2, D2).
