Manchester United vs Leicester City

Old Trafford is the venue as title hopefuls Manchester United and resurgent Leicester City go head-to-head in a tasty-looking Premier League fixture.

Fresh from holding runaway La Liga leaders Barcelona to an action-packed 2-2 Europa League draw on Friday, Manchester United return to Premier League duties, aiming to maintain a five-point distance on top-placed Manchester City at a bare minimum. Erik ten Hag’s men have alternated between winning (2) and drawing (1) in three league matches since a 3-2 defeat at Arsenal in late January, but their home form has been nothing short of outrageous. The ‘Red Devils’ come into this round unbeaten in their last 16 home outings across all competitions (W14, D2), seeking the completion of their first top-flight double over Leicester since 2019/20 after a narrow 1-0 win in the reverse fixture. But it’s worth noting that Jadon Sancho’s winning strike at the King Power Stadium served to put Man Utd’s four-match winless H2H league run to bed (D2, L2).

On the other hand, visiting Leicester City have won back-to-back Premier League matches in the lead-up to this trip despite falling behind on both occasions, including a thumping 4-1 home triumph over Tottenham Hotspur last time out. That result helped to alleviate growing fears that the ‘Foxes’ could be drawn back into a relegation fight, helping them build a six-point buffer on 18th-placed Everton. On top of their mini-revival, Brendan Rodgers’ men have gone unbeaten on two consecutive Premier League visits to Old Trafford (W1, D1) for the first time since the mid-70s. That could set up their bid to win three successive top-flight games for the first time since January 2021 nicely, even though two of their last three league travels have yielded defeat (W1).
