Manchester United vs Fulham
Manchester United and Fulham are set to face off against each other at Old Trafford in an exciting Premier League season finale.
A 4-1 demolition of Chelsea in midweek Premier League action helped Manchester United assure a third top-four finish in four years and return to the Champions League after a season-long absence. Much of the credit for a decent domestic campaign goes to United’s stellar form at Old Trafford as they’ve gone unbeaten in all 17 home league matches (W14, D3) since a 2-1 loss to Brighton on day one. Manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to end his maiden Premier League season on a high against a Fulham side the ‘Red Devils’ haven’t lost to in any of their last 14 top-flight H2Hs (W11, D3), including a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage. There’s a piece of history up for grabs as Man Utd could win all six Premier League matches against promoted sides in a single season for the first time since 2011/12.
Meanwhile, visiting Fulham will land a top-half finish in the Premier League for the first time since 2011/12, no matter the outcome at Old Trafford, after a three-game unbeaten run (W2, D1) steered them eight points clear of 11th-placed Crystal Palace. But the ‘Cottagers’ lament a disastrous record at Old Trafford, having won just one of their last 21 league visits to Man Utd (D2, L18). Interestingly, since a goalless draw at Chelsea in January, none of Fulham’s seven subsequent Premier League travels have ended level (W3, L4), with 57% of those results (wins/losses) seeing the winner on the day keeping a clean sheet. Ominously for the visitors, they’ve only managed three wins in their 53 Premier League away games against sides in the top four of the table (D12, L38).
