Luton Town vs Liverpool

Luton Town’s disastrous start to life in the Premier League could go from bad to worse when high-flying Liverpool land at Kenilworth Road this weekend.

When Luton stunned Everton in a 2-1 away win in late September, it looked like they could be on the verge of gaining a foothold in their first-ever Premier League campaign. However, Rob Edwards’ men have since descended into disarray, picking up just one point in four league matches (D1, L3), an underwhelming sequence bookended by a 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa last weekend. Kenilworth Road should’ve been Luton’s safe shelter, but that’s not been the case, as evidenced by their disastrous run of three defeats in four Premier League games here (D1). If it’s any consolation, the ‘Hatters’ at least found the net in three of those four fixtures, suggesting their first goal against Liverpool in league action since 1992 could be on the cards.

However, Liverpool won’t touch down in Bedfordshire to make friends as they bid to build momentum after back-to-back league victories over Everton and Nottingham Forest by 2+ goals ‘to nil’ rekindled their title hopes. Only three points adrift of pacesetters Tottenham, the ‘Reds’ seem destined to fight for Premier League supremacy until the end, but improving an indifferent away form is imperative. Despite only losing once on five Premier League travels in 2023/24, Jurgen Klopp’s men have won just twice (D2), going winless in their last two away league games (D1, L1), both of which saw them concede precisely twice. But to say the visitors have excelled this term would be an understatement, considering they’ve only lost once in 15 competitive games thus far (W12, D2).
