Liverpool vs Fulham

Liverpool’s bid to dethrone Manchester City continues at Anfield as Premier League strugglers Fulham come to town.

Another rampant home performance saw Liverpool thrash LASK Linz 4-0 in midweek Europa League action and cement their place in the competition’s knockout stages while protecting their 100% win record at Anfield this season (W10). Virtually unplayable in front of the Kop, Jurgen Klopp’s high-flyers netted 3+ goals in eight of those ten victories, highlighting the potential for another memorable weekend. The last one was a success as the ‘Reds’ held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad to further their superb unbeaten ratio in the Premier League this season (93%). Except for a controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in September, the Merseyside heavyweights have gone undefeated in their 13 remaining league games in 2023/24 (W8, D4). But there’s no room for complacency, as they’ve only won once in their last four top-flight H2Hs (D2, L1).

Damage limitation could be at the forefront of Fulham’s minds despite their decent recent record against Liverpool and the fact they ousted Wolverhampton 3-2 at home earlier this week. Marco Silva’s men have stuttered at the start of the new Premier League campaign, racking up a dismal 31% win ratio across the opening 13 rounds (W4, D3, L6), with just one of those four triumphs coming on the road. Since a narrow 1-0 win at Everton on their first Premier League travel of 2023/24, the ‘Cottagers’ have alternated between drawing (3) and losing (3) across their last six away league games while only averaging 0.83 goals per match. Interestingly, the only time they scored more than once in that sequence was a 2-2 draw against Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal in late August.
