Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Anfield is the venue as Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking Premier League encounter.

Liverpool licked their wounds during the international break after bowing out of the FA Cup quarter-finals at the hands of Manchester United. However, the Reds are still in contention for a record-equaling 20th Premier League crown as they commence this round level on points with table-topping Arsenal, who will face Manchester City at the Etihad. After United denied Jurgen Klopp his 300th competitive win in charge of Liverpool, the German will be heavily motivated to end a four-game winless run against Brighton (D2, L2). What better venue to break that duck than Anfield, where they’ve only lost one of their last 56 league matches (W42, D13)? Moreover, except for a 1-1 draw against Man City, the Merseyside giants have won all their remaining home outings across all competitions in 2024 (W8).

On the other hand, battles on multiple fronts have taken their toll on Brighton this season as they head into proceedings as mid-table tenants after blowing hot and cold across their last three league games (W1, D1, L1). Roberto De Zerbi’s side went into the international break in high spirits despite exiting the Europa League, courtesy of a 4-1 aggregate loss to Roma, winning back-to-back home games via an identical 1-0 scoreline. However, the Seagulls have stuttered on their recent travels, losing five of their last six away matches (W1) while failing to get on the scoresheet in four. Against this backdrop, they have netted 2+ goals in four consecutive meetings with Liverpool since a 2-0 home loss in March 2022, including a goal-glutted 2-2 draw in October’s reverse fixture.
