Levante vs Sevilla

Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is the venue as relegation-battling Levante and Champions League hopefuls go head-to-head in a high-stakes La Liga encounter.

Levante ran riot at the weekend, beating fellow relegation rivals Granada 4-1 on the road to give themselves hope of maintaining top-flight status for another season. With 17th-placed Cadiz sitting six points clear, the ‘Granotes’ will be looking to establish any form of consistency to close the gap after alternating between victories (2) and defeats (2) across their last four La Liga outings. However, since racking up a 2-1 home triumph in April 2018, Alessio Lisci’s men have gone winless in their last seven La Liga meetings with Sevilla (D1, L6), failing to get on the scoresheet four times in that sequence. On the bright side, though, they’ve won two of their last four La Liga home matches (D1, L1), having won just once in their 17 top-flight home fixtures beforehand (D8, L8).

On the other hand, Sevilla suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to La Liga pacesetters Real Madrid last time out despite harbouring a 2-0 lead at half-time. It means ‘Los Rojiblancos’ have now won just one of their six previous league games (D2, L3), with the last two seeing both teams score 2+ goals in matches garnering over 4.5 total goals. Before falling to a 1-0 defeat at Barcelona on their most recent La Liga travel, Sevilla had gone unbeaten in their seven previous away league outings (W2, D5). Yet, they now face the prospect of losing back-to-back top-flight fixtures on hostile turf for the first time since October 2020. A stalemate could be the order of the day as six of Sevilla’s last 11 La Liga visits to sides from the Valencian region have ended level (W2, L3).
