Leicester City vs Chelsea

King Power Stadium forms the backdrop for a high-stakes Premier League encounter between Leicester City and Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers’ future as a Leicester City boss continues to hang by a thread after his men lost three consecutive Premier League games, including a disheartening 1-0 defeat at fellow relegation rivals Southampton last time out. Left only two points clear of the drop zone at the start of this round, the ‘Foxes’ go up against a Chelsea side they’ve defeated only once in their last six top-flight encounters (D2, L3), collapsing to a 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture in August. Adding to Rodgers’ troubles, his lads have failed to produce a shot on target in their last two league outings, casting doubt on their ability to defy a poor scoring record against Chelsea at home. They’ve drawn a blank in three of their last five competitive H2Hs at the King Power.

In the meantime, Chelsea alleviated some pressure on manager Graham Potter with a 2-0 home triumph over Borussia Dortmund in midweek Champions League action, which saw them reach the competition’s quarter-finals for the third year in a row. Last weekend’s hard-earned 1-0 home triumph over out-of-sorts Leeds United helped the ‘Pensioners’ arrest an underwhelming five-match winless run in the Premier League (D3, L2), but they’ve not won back-to-back league games since mid-October. In order to replicate that feat, Chelsea will have to snap a woeful ten-game winless away streak in all competitions (D3, L7), accounting for their worst away form since 2001. Scoring is another problem for Potter’s charges, as they’ve failed to score multiple goals in their last ten top-flight outings.
