Kaya vs Ulsan Hyundai

Ulsan Hyundai will be looking to cement their place in the AFC Champions League knock-outs when they take on out-of-sorts Kaya at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok.

The hosts are on the verge of exiting the competition after losing both of their opening group stage matches by over 2.5 goals (9-1 on aggregate). Kaya’s defensive woes have seen them concede 2+ goals in each of their four Champions League halves played so far, with the opening goal on both occasions coming inside the first 25 minutes of play. Encouragingly, though, before those back-to-back defeats, Kaya had been on an impressive nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W5, D4), a sequence that saw them keep a clean sheet on six occasions. At home, none of Kaya’s last eight competitive fixtures have seen both teams score (W4, D2, L2), with four of the six games won/lost in that period yielding a full-time margin of 3+ goals.

On the other hand, the visitors head into proceedings top of Group F after winning their opening two group stage games ‘to nil,’ with each match seeing at least one goalless half. Additionally, Ulsan will take the field unbeaten in their last 12 fixtures across all competitions (W7, D5), keeping a blank sheet in 50% of them. Away from home, the ‘Tigers’ have enjoyed a notable upturn in form, going from three consecutive road trips without winning (D2, L1) to three straight victories, with the last two seeing the winning goal come beyond the 90th minute. Worryingly, though, before pulling off a narrow 1-0 win over Viettel in their most recent trip, Ulsan had failed to register a shutout in three consecutive away fixtures, conceding an average of 1.66 goals per game.
