Juventus vs Napoli

Allianz Stadium forms the backdrop for a mouth-watering Serie A clash between record-time champions Juventus and runaway leaders Napoli.

In addition to squeaking past Sporting Lisbon in midweek Europa League action to reach the semi-finals, Juventus saw their 15-deduction suspended until further notice, moving to third in the Serie A standings. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s men have lost their last two league outings by a single-goal margin and could suffer a third straight top-flight defeat for the first time since 2011. At home, though, ‘I Bianconeri’ have amassed a league-high 36 points in the 2022/23 Serie A season (W11, D3, L1), winning their last four Serie A fixtures in Turin by an aggregate score of 10-4. Adding to Juventus’ confidence, they had won three top-flight H2Hs on home turf on the trot before a 1-1 draw in this corresponding fixture in 2021/22.

On the other hand, Napoli suffered a heartbreaking Champions League quarter-final elimination at the hands of AC Milan despite drawing 1-1 at home in midweek. Complacency may have caught up with ‘I Partneopei’ as they’ve managed just one win in five competitive outings in April (D2, L2), failing to find the net on three occasions. Indeed, following an underwhelming 0-0 home draw against Hellas Verona last weekend, Luciano Spalletti’s side could go back-to-back league matches without scoring for the first time since December 2020. That’s an unlikely prospect, though, considering the visitors have collected a league-high 40 points on the road this term (W13, D1, L1), including seven away victories in a row, all of which saw them net 2+ goals. After a 5-1 triumph in the reverse fixture, Napoli could register their first Serie A double over Juventus since 2009/10.
