Juventus vs AC Milan
Juventus and AC Milan are set to square off in a blockbuster all-Serie A summer friendly at Carson’s Dignity Health Sports Park.
A bit behind Milan in their preparations, Juventus launch an all-important pre-season following a dreadful 2022/23 Serie A season. Massimiliano Allegri’s side signed off with a 1-0 win over Udinese on the final weekend to end a dismal three-game losing run in all competitions but still had to settle for an abysmal seventh-place finish. Without the distraction of European football for the first time in over a decade, ‘I Bianconeri’ can focus on restoring glory days at the Allianz Stadium. But for the moment, Allegri will accept a friendly win over Milan after overseeing five consecutive league H2Hs without a victory (D2, L3). Indeed, Juventus suffered a top-flight double at the hands of ‘I Rossoneri’ in the campaign just gone, drawing a blank in both encounters.
On the other hand, Milan secured a third consecutive finish in Serie A last season and reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2007. Stefano Pioli’s men have undergone massive personnel changes this summer, with Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz leaving San Siro. But the Italians have captured Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic, and Noah Okafor to keep their squad competitive. Milan’s pre-season was off to a perfect start as they thumped lower-league Lumezzane 7-0 in their first summer friendly. However, despite boasting a 2-0 halftime lead in their first United States fixture, ‘I Rossoneri’ slumped to a morale-crippling 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid last time out.
