Inter Milan vs Torino

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is the venue as Inter Milan and Torino meet in a top-half Serie A six-pointer.

Inter will be looking to put last week’s disappointments firmly behind as a 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek Champions League action followed their morale-crushing 3-2 Derby della Madonnina loss to AC Milan. These are tumultuous times for ‘I Nerazzurri,’ with an abysmal run of three defeats from their last four competitive outings (W1) casting doubt on Simone Inzaghi’s future in the dugout. However, Inter can draw confidence from a stellar home league form that has seen them win their last six Serie A games at Meazza via multi-goal margins. On top of that, since falling to a 1-0 loss in January 2019, last season’s Serie A runners-up have gone unbeaten in six consecutive top-flight H2Hs (W5, D1), including a narrow 1-0 triumph in this corresponding fixture in 2021/22.

On the other hand, visiting Torino have racked up three single-goal margin victories across their opening five Serie A matches this season (D1, L1). But head coach Ivan Juric won’t let his side’s decent start to the season confuse him, knowing each of those three wins came against newly-promoted clubs. Indeed, you’d have to go back to April 2016 for Torino’s last Serie A success at Meazza, with ‘I Granata’ going winless in six subsequent top-flight visits (D2, L4). Yet, following a 1-0 home triumph over Serie A newcomers Monza, Torino could win back-to-back league fixtures for the first time since January. There’s a genuine reason for optimism in the travelling camp, with the visitors winning four of their last five away league games (L1).
