Inter Milan vs Juventus
Inter Milan and Juventus are set to exchange tackles at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in a blockbuster Serie A showdown.
Inter turned a 1-0 HT lead into a 3-1 away defeat to Lazio last time out, as new manager Simone Inzaghi suffered his first Serie A defeat in charge of the ‘Nerazzurri’ (W5, D2). Inzaghi himself has lost more managerial matches in Italy’s top-flight versus Juventus (8) than against any other Serie A side. But the hosts came out victorious in this exact fixture last season and could beat Juventus in back-to-back Serie A home H2Hs for the first time since 2010. Inter can fall back on their free-scoring form throughout the whole of 2021, with only Bayern Munich (89) netting more league goals than the reigning Italian champions (73) across Europe’s top-five divisions this calendar year. Indeed, bringing the 2020/21 campaign into the equation, they have scored 2+ goals in each of their last six Serie A home outings.
Meanwhile, after failing to keep a clean sheet in 20 consecutive Serie A fixtures, Juventus have racked up a brace of 1-0 league victories over Roma and Torino. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have picked up steam following a dreadful start to this Serie A season (D2, L2) as they take the field on the back of a four-game winning league streak. Yet, it’s worth noting that each of Juve’s four victories during that run yielded a single-goal margin, which was the case in their Champions League win at Zenit St Petersburg in midweek (1-0). The visitors will have to take care of their lackluster second-half performances if they are to improve their chances of winning here, having netted a league joint-low four Serie A goals beyond half-time this season.
