Greece vs Kosovo

Panthessaliko Stadium is the venue as Greece and Kosovo lock horns in a top-table UEFA Nations League Group C2 six-pointer.

Midway through Nations League Group C2, Greece comfortably top the standings with all three victories and no goals conceded. After narrowly missing out on promotion to League B in the previous Nations League edition, the ‘Pirate Ship’ will be keen to capitalise on their high-flying start to the new season. Undefeated in 12 of their last 13 internationals held on home soil (W7, D5), the Greeks will feel confident about living up to the billing as pre-match favourites. Yet, Gus Poyet’s men can ill-afford to rest on their laurels. Only two of those 13 fixtures featured a full-time margin of 2+ goals, highlighting the potential for a tight affair. Still, Greece have yet to lose a competitive match against Kosovo (W2, D3).

In the meantime, Kosovo have alternated between winning (2) and losing (1) across their opening three Group C2 fixtures. With each of those three results (win/loss) seeing the winner open the scoring and two of them witnessing a clean sheet, a fast start in Volos could be of the essence. The visitors are only three points off the summit of Group C following an enthralling 3-2 home triumph over Northern Ireland last time out. It means that a potential win here would boost their chances of qualifying for League B next season. The ‘Dardanians’ take this trip in high spirits, having gone unbeaten in four of their last five internationals held on foreign turf (W2, D2). After finding themselves trailing at half-time in four of their five winless H2Hs against Greece, Kosovo will hope for a better start this time around.
