Germany vs Turkey

Berlin’s Olympiastadion is the venue as Germany and Turkey go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking international friendly.

After marking his touchline debut with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the United States during the last international break, new Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann oversaw a goal-glutted 2-2 draw against Mexico, extending Die Mannschaft’s underwhelming run to eight internationals without a clean sheet. If nothing, they’ve been fascinating to watch during that sequence, with six of those eight games featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, highlighting the potential for a high-scoring fixture. Adding to this sentiment, each of Germany’s five meetings with Turkey in the 21st century have produced at least three goals, with next summer’s Euro 2024 host nation only losing once in that stretch (W3, D1, L1).

Meanwhile, Turkey reigned supreme during October’s international break, beating Croatia 1-0 on the road before thrashing Latvia 4-0 at home to secure automatic qualification for the upcoming tournament. Vincenzo Montella’s men have enjoyed an almost-perfect Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, racking up 16 out of the 21 available points (W5, D1, L1) while only conceding six times across those seven matches. Montella is still new to the job, though, as his only previous games in charge of the ‘Crescent-Stars’ came during the last international window. The Italian manager faces a formidable challenge now as he looks to inspire the Turks to only their second-ever H2H win on German soil.
