Genoa vs Roma

Genoa and Roma are set to trade tackles at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in an exciting Serie A encounter.

Legendary AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko will make his managerial debut in Serie A, having taken over the reins from Davide Ballardini on the back of Genoa’s poor start to the season. After steering Ukraine to their first-ever Euro quarter-finals, Shevchenko faces the challenging task of ending Genoa’s dismal nine-game winless run in Serie A (D6, L3). Including the 2020/21 campaign, ‘I Rossoblu’ are winless in their last seven top-flight home fixtures (D3, L4), conceding 2+ goals six times in that seven-game stretch. To end that run, Genoa will have to defy their embarrassing recent H2H record, having failed to beat Roma in any of their last 14 Serie A encounters (D3, L11) since a 1-0 away win in May 2015.

Meanwhile, Roma will be looking to extend their handsomely-looking 14-match unbeaten Serie A streak at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris (W11, D3), as they hope to snap a two-game losing league run. It’s been ‘all or nothing’ for ‘I Giallorossi’ on the road this season (W2, L4), with four of those six games won/lost seeing the winner on the day score 3+ goals. Since defeating newly-promoted Salernitana 4-0 in their first Serie A travel of the season, Jose Mourinho’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet in their subsequent five away league matches. That seems likely to continue here, as they’ve conceded precisely once in their last four Serie A visits to Genoa. Interestingly, a clear majority (65.22%) of Roma’s away league goals scored/conceded this season have come beyond half-time (15/22).
