Fulham vs Liverpool
Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes are on the line after a shock Europa League exit to Atalanta as they head to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.
Back-to-back top-half Premier League finishes for the first time since 2010/11 and 2011/12 are back on the cards for Fulham after a spirited 2-0 win at fellow London rivals West Ham last weekend emphatically ended their three-game winless league run (D1, L2). Marco Silva’s men commence this round only two points below 10th-placed Brighton and return home, where they’ve racked up three victories in their last five top-flight matches (L2). Far more comfortable on home turf, the Cottagers have claimed double the amount of points at Craven Cottage (28) than on their travels this season (14). Silva’s backline deserves a lot of credit, with Fulham conceding just 16 goals in as many Premier League home outings in 2023/24.
However, the last time Liverpool met Fulham in the Premier League, Anfield testified to a goal galore, with Jurgen Klopp’s men fighting back to earn a 4-3 win in December’s reverse fixture. Another victory is mandatory if the Reds are to keep their title hopes alive after last weekend’s 1-0 home loss to Crystal Palace demoted them to third in the standings, two points adrift of perennial champions Manchester City. The odds back Liverpool for success, yet they’ve drawn their last three away league meetings with Fulham, having won three consecutive such H2Hs beforehand. No strangers to dropping points on the road, Klopp’s lads have only won twice in their last four Premier League away games (D1, L1).
