Fulham vs Brentford
Craven Cottage forms the backdrop for an all-London Premier League showdown between Fulham and Brentford.
After back-to-back wins toward the end of September, Fulham’s Premier League form has been in freefall, with Marco Silva’s side picking up just one point from their last three league outings (D1, L2), courtesy of a 1-1 draw at relegation-battling Everton. Back to Craven Cottage after a fortnight, the hosts will be out to avenge a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa, which knocked them down from a three-game unbeaten league start on home turf (W2, D1) Craven Cottage has been a venue of entertainment this term, as three of Fulham’s four home league fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, highlighting the potential for a high-scoring London derby. Worryingly, though, Fulham have emerged victorious from just one of the last 13 home H2Hs (D6, L6).
Like their hosts, Brentford have been guilty of wasting chances to keep up with the top-five pace, throwing away 11 points from winning positions already. However, the Bees flipped the script in their most recent Premier League outing, overhauling a two-goal deficit in a 4-3 home triumph against newcomers Ipswich Town to make it two wins across their three most recent league outings (L1). Thomas Frank’s men will be out to build on that comeback and get something on the road after failing to take a point from their first four top-flight travels (L4) despite breaking the deadlock on each of the last three. A thumping 3-0 win in this corresponding fixture in 2023/24 should bode well.
