England vs Brazil

The iconic Wembley Stadium forms the backdrop for a mouth-watering international friendly between England and Brazil.

Fresh off another near-flawless Euro qualifying campaign (W6, D2), England brace themselves for their first friendly against Brazil since a scoreless draw in November 2017. That stalemate forms part of the Three Lions’ underwhelming run of just one win from their last 11 encounters against the CONMEBOL heavyweights (D6, L4). It casts doubt on Gareth Southgate’s bid to protect his side’s unbeaten record since a frustrating 2022 World Cup quarter-final exit (W8, D2). However, England’s imperious form on home soil demands respect, with Euro 2020 beaten finalists winning all five home internationals in the post-World Cup period via an aggregate score of 15-1. Barring a 1-0 friendly win against Australia, all four remaining victories in that span featured multi-goal margins!

On the other hand, Brazil decided enough was enough after losing their first-ever home World Cup qualifier to Argentina last time out as they sacked Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz in the aftermath. It’s up to new manager Dorival Junior to knock the Selecao down from an embarrassing three-game losing streak, which has seen them drop to sixth in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group. But despite lacking senior stars such as Neymar and Casemiro, the five-time world champions are still a force to be reckoned with, especially in friendlies. They have, indeed, won nine of their last ten exhibition matches since last visiting Wembley seven years ago (L1). However, losing three of their four away games after another World Cup fiasco (W1) doesn’t bode well for Brazil’s effort to get back on track.
