Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen

The weekend’s Bundesliga action closes out at the Deutsche Bank Park as Eintracht Frankfurt take on Bayer Leverkusen in an enthralling showdown.

An action-packed 3-2 loss at TSG Hoffenheim last time out brought Eintracht Frankfurt’s mini-revival to a halt, ending their run of three successive Bundesliga wins. Oliver Glasner’s men have been far from convincing on home turf this season, having only won one of their six Bundesliga games at the Deutsche Bank Park so far this season (D4, L1), with their last five such contests witnessing both sides on the scoresheet. Despite their lackluster start to the season, ‘Die Adler’ have been fun to watch, as three of their last four league matches have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. But a lack of early energy remains an issue, with only rock-bottom Greuther Furth (1) netting fewer first-half home goals than Eintracht (2) in the Bundesliga this season.

Following a run of four Bundesliga matches without a win (D2, L2) between mid-October and early November, Bayer Leverkusen have gone their stop-start top-flight campaign back on track. Having racked up a three-game winning streak in the build-up to this fixture, ‘Die Werkself’ head into this round in third, ten points adrift of league-leaders Bayern Munich, on whom they have a game in hand. To make the most out of that advantage, Leverkusen will have to snap a disappointing run of three consecutive Bundesliga losses away to Frankfurt, all of which saw them concede 2+ goals. On the bright side, though, they have failed to find the net in just one of their last 20 Bundesliga visits to Frankfurt, with only two sides netting more away goals against Eintracht than Leverkusen (49).
