Denmark vs Slovenia

Parken Stadium forms the backdrop for a top-table Euro 2024 qualifying Group H six-pointer between Denmark and Slovenia.

Based on Denmark’s recent results in major tournaments, this qualifying campaign should’ve been a walk in the park, but a 3-2 defeat to Kazakhstan on Matchday 2 complicated their lives. However, Kasper Hjulmand’s men have since gone into overdrive, racking up five wins in six Euro 2024 qualifiers (D1) to go level on points with Group H leaders Slovenia and, more importantly, four clear of third-placed Kazakhstan. A win here would mathematically seal their second successive Euros qualification, though a point coupled with Kazakhstan’s unlikely failed attempt to beat San Marino at home would also do the trick. ‘Danish Dynamite’ won’t let others decide their fate, especially after defeating the Slovenians in four of their five all-time H2Hs (D1), including a brace of victories by 3+ goals ‘to nil’ on home soil.

As for Slovenia, relinquishing an impressive four-game winning streak in Group H would throw a spanner in the works going into the qualifying finale, potentially jeopardizing their bid to reach the Euros for the first time as an independent nation. However, after winning three consecutive Euro 2024 qualifiers without conceding, the visitors ought to take this trip in high spirits, even more so knowing they’ve emerged victorious in three of their four away games in 2023 (L1). The free-scoring Slovenians have only failed to find the net once on their last six international travels, netting 2+ goals on three out of five scoring occasions. Sharing the spoils hasn’t been Slovenia’s thing in away Euro qualifiers, considering just one of their last 17 such fixtures has ended level (W7, L9).
