Denmark vs Norway

Denmark and Norway are set to lock horns in an all-Scandinavian international match-up at the Brondby Stadium.

Fresh off squeezing past Sweden 2-1 in the midweek Scandinavian derby, Denmark will be out to beat another Nordic side in their final warm-up fixture for Euro 2024. The Danes have had Norway’s number, beating them in three of their last six meetings (D3) since a narrow 1-0 loss in March 2002. But as they alternated between winning and losing during that six-game sequence, a 2-1 triumph in their most recent encounter in 2013 means Denmark could register back-to-back H2H wins for the first time since 1985. Their form in the lead-up to this encounter backs their lofty ambitions, with Kasper Hjulmand’s side winning seven of their nine internationals since September 2023 (D1, L1), including the last two in a row by a combined score of 4-1.

Visiting Norway couldn’t qualify for Euro 2024. That’s a feeling they’re intimately familiar with, having appeared at the most prestigious continental tournament only once in 2000. Unfazed by another faltering qualifying campaign, Stale Solbakken’s team swept Kosovo aside 3-0 in midweek to end a three-game winless streak (D2, L1) and secure a chance to win two consecutive matches for the first time since a run of five between June and October 2023. Despite many negatives in the recent period, the visitors can draw confidence from a decent away form that has seen them suffer just three defeats on their last 14 international travels (W7, D4).
