Como vs Lazio

Stadio Giuseppe Sinagaglia is the venue as Como and Lazio go head-to-head in their first Serie A meeting since 2003.
Como went toe-to-toe with Torino last time out, only for a late defensive blunder to condemn them to a 1-0 defeat, extending their winless run in Serie A to three games (D1, L2). However, the good news for manager Cesc Fabregas is that his men return to the home comforts of their Stadio Giuseppe Sinagaglia, where they’ve yet to taste defeat in top-flight action this season (W1, D2). With all three games seeing both teams on the scoresheet, it stands to reason we could have a back-and-forth affair in store. But Fabregas would probably appreciate a clean sheet for a change, with ‘I Lariani’ remaining the only team in Serie A this season yet to register a shutout.
In the meantime, Lazio put Genoa to the sword at the weekend, emerging victorious from a one-sided affair in Rome (3-0) to keep back-to-back clean sheets in competitive action for the first time since January. Indeed, Marco Baroni’s men have won six of their last seven matches in all competitions (L1) as they commence this round in the coveted sixth place. However, there’s no room for complacency as ‘I Biancocelesti’ have notoriously struggled to establish consistency away from home this season (W3, L3). Five of those six results (wins/losses) have seen the winner on the day score 2+ goals, suggesting the outcome often hinges on high-scoring performances.
