Burnley vs Chelsea
Turf Moor is the venue as relegation-battling Burnley meet third-placed Chelsea in a handsomely-looking Premier League encounter.
Burnley’s efforts to clamber out of the Premier League relegation territory took a hit in midweek. They slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Leicester City, ending a run of three successive league matches without losing (W2, D1). Entertainment has been relatively sparse in Burnley’s recent Premier League games – seven of their last eight league outings have featured under 2.5 goals, with only two of those eight seeing both teams on the scoresheet. But after holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, the ‘Clarets’ have an opportunity to go unbeaten in both seasonal meetings with this opposition for the first time since 1970/71. Conceding first could dent those hopes, though, with Sean Dyche’s side suffering eight defeats from 12 Premier League fixtures after falling behind this season (D4).
As for Chelsea, a stunning second-half comeback saw Thomas Tuchel’s team turn a 2-1 HT deficit into a 3-2 win away to Championship outfit Luton Town in midweek FA Cup action. Back to Premier League action for the first time since mid-February, the ‘Pensioners’ will be looking to pick up where they left off and win three consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since October. Tuchel seems to have brought his backline to shape of late, with two clean sheets from Chelsea’s last two Premier League fixtures equalling their tally across their previous 13 in the competition. Delivering action from the get-go, the ‘Blues’ have got on the scoresheet before half-time in 14 of their 15 Premier League meetings with Burnley. Moreover, they are enjoying a four-game winning top-flight run at Turf Moor, with their last three such successes yielding multi-goal margins each.
