Brentford vs Chelsea

Brentford Community Stadium is the venue as Brentford and Chelsea go head-to-head in an all-London Premier League match-up.

Goals from Ivan Toney on either side of halftime propelled Brentford to a morale-boosting 2-0 home triumph over Brighton at the weekend, halting their frustrating three-game winless league streak (D2, L1) and keeping them in mid-table comforts. Back to the Brentford Community Stadium, where they’ve lost just once in five Premier League fixtures in 2022/23 (W3, D1), the ‘Bees’ are looking to win back-to-back top-flight home games for the first time since April. Achieving that feat would also see Brentford beat Chelsea in consecutive league H2Hs for the first time since 1939, having outclassed them 4-1 at Stamford Bridge in early April. However, it’s worth noting that Thomas Frank’s men have drawn a blank in four of their six Premier League London derbies at home (W2, D2, L2).

On the other hand, Graham Potter’s arrival in the Bridge dugout has reinvigorated sleeping giants following an abysmal 2022/23 start under Thomas Tuchel. Except for a 1-1 home draw with RB Salzburg in the Champions League, Potter has won all five remaining competitive games in charge of Chelsea, including three in the Premier League via an aggregate score of 7-1. Four out of four is well on the cards, considering the ‘Blues’ have racked up nine victories across their last ten away London derbies in the Premier League, registering seven shutouts in the process. The ‘clean sheet’ has been a common theme in Chelsea’s wins under Potter, with their last four competitive triumphs under the ex-Brighton boss coming ‘to nil.’
