Bournemouth vs Leicester City
A place in the FA Cup quarter-finals is up for grabs as Bournemouth and Leicester City go head-to-head at the Vitality Stadium.
Despite going winless in all five matches in February (D3, L2) and still waiting for their first Premier League win in 2024 (D3, L3), Bournemouth’s survival hopes remain firmly on course. With a healthy gap between them and the bottom three, the Cherries boss Andoni Iraola will probably name a strong line-up, seeking a hat-trick of wins against Championship adversaries after ousting QPR and Swansea. Leicester’s visit to the Vitality Stadium could be what the doctor ordered for Bournemouth to find a way out of the crisis, considering they’ve won four of the six previous H2Hs between the sides (L2), including the last three in a row.
In the meantime, Leicester squandered a huge chance to set the tone for a 100-point league campaign last weekend, wasting a halftime lead in a 3-1 defeat at Leeds United. Now at risk of suffering three losses on the trot for the first time since April 2023, the Foxes seek redemption in the FA Cup, the competition they won in 2020/21. Despite not reaching the quarter-finals since that success, they boast a proud record of five consecutive wins against Premier League clubs. Adding to Leicester’s confidence, they’ve emerged victorious from eight of their last nine FA Cup ties on the road (L1).
