Borussia Dortmund vs Stuttgart

Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart are set to lock horns in an exciting Bundesliga encounter at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 2-1 away defeat to RB Leipzig on the stroke of the international break brought Borussia Dortmund’s four-match winning Bundesliga run to a halt, dropping them three points adrift of pacesetters Bayern Munich ahead of this round. Dortmund’s ‘all-or-nothing’ approach has seen none of their last 30 competitive fixtures end as a draw (W21, L9), including all 11 in the Bundesliga this season (W8, L3). Yet, ‘Die Borussen’ have been nothing short of outstanding at home this term, winning all six top-flight games at the Signal Iduna Park by an aggregate score of 19-8. Stretching back to the 2020/21 campaign, Dortmund have won their last ten Bundesliga home matches in a row, a feat they last managed in 1994. Another win here would see them make a perfect seven-game start to a new home league campaign for the first time in their top-flight history.

On the other hand, Stuttgart, who won this exact fixture 5-1 back last season, will be aiming to post back-to-back away Bundesliga victories over Dortmund for the first time since 2005. That could be easier said than done, considering they’ve lost ten of their last 13 top-flight encounters against this opposition (W2, D1) while conceding an average of 2.92 goals per game in that run. Adding to this sentiment, ‘Die Schwabien’ are winless in their last five matches in all competitions (D2, L3), scoring under 1.5 goals on each occasion in that spread of games. What’s more, Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men have yet to pick up a single away win in the Bundesliga this term (D3, L2), netting an average of just 0.6 per match in the process.
