Bodo/Glimt vs Jagiellonia

Aspmyra Stadion forms the backdrop for the second leg of a closely-contested Champions League qualifying tie between Bodo/Glimt and Jagiellonia.

Seeking their maiden appearance in the Champions League main draw, Bodo/Glimt took a massive stride toward a play-off tie against Red Star Belgrade with a spirited 1-0 first-leg win against Jagiellonia in Poland last week. The Norwegian giants eased past RFS in the previous qualifying round via a 6-1 aggregate score, netting precisely three goals in both legs. Those victories, followed by a narrow success in Bialystok, form part of Bodo/Glimt’s superb seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W5, D2). Kjetil Knutsen’s men are full steam ahead in their domestic title race and boast a significant advantage over Jagiellonia fitness-wise, having embarked on their competitive season in April. On top of that, almost unplayable at Aspmyra Stadion, they’ve only lost once in their last 11 home outings (W7, D3).

In the meantime, Jagiellonia outperformed expectations in the Polish Ekstraklasa last term to lift their first-ever top-flight title. Considering their relative lack of domestic success, the visitors are not used to European fixtures, last contesting qualifying for a major continental competition in 2018/19 – without much success. However, they’ve been impressive at the start of the new campaign, racking up five straight wins in all competitions before losing to Bodo/Glimt. That run included a pair of multi-goal margin victories over Panevezys in the previous qualifying round, with Adrian Siemieniec’s side winning the first leg on the road 4-0. Indeed, they’ve bagged 3+ goals on both competitive travels in 2024/25, suggesting this tie is far from over.
