Belgium vs Sweden

King Baudouin Stadium is the venue as Belgium and Sweden go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying fixture.

Despite falling a man down, Belgium triumphed 3-2 in Austria last time out, booking their place in next summer’s Euros finals. After qualifying for the third consecutive European Championship, ‘De Rode Duivels’ are looking to maintain their 100% win ratio against Sweden in the 21st century, with three of their four H2H victories in that period accompanied by a clean sheet, including a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture last March. Since a 1-1 home draw against Austria in mid-June, Domenico Tedesco’s men have netted 3+ goals in three of those four Euro 2024 qualifiers, highlighting the potential for another free-scoring showing against Sweden. Indeed, they’ve bagged 2+ goals in three of those abovementioned H2Hs this millennium.

On the other hand, Sweden’s bid to reach every European Championship tournament since 2000 is up in the air as they trail Group F runners-up Austria by seven points. With a game in hand and three matches left, it’s almost a ‘mission impossible,’ even though they thumped Moldova 3-1 in a home friendly in midweek to bounce back from a dreadful 3-1 home defeat to Austria in the ongoing qualifying campaign. Anything other than a victory here would end Sweden’s quest to qualify for ‘Germany 2024,’ but after losing seven of their last nine competitive away matches (W2), that’s easier said than done. It’s also worth noting they failed to score more than once in six of those seven defeats.
