Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart

Allianz Arena is the venue as Bayern Munich and Stuttgart go head-to-head in a Bundesliga top-four six-pointer.

Bayern Munich replied to last weekend’s unfathomable 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt with a 1-0 win at Manchester United in midweek Champions League action, protecting their near-flawless European record intact (W5, D1). However, Thomas Tuchel cut a frustrated character after his side relinquished a six-game winning streak in the Bundesliga, dropping four points behind pacesetters Bayer Leverkusen. But with a game in hand, the record-time German champions are still the most viable title candidates, largely thanks to their formidable home league record in 2023/24 (W5, D1). They’ve taken a 2-2 draw against Leverkusen in September seriously, winning their subsequent four top-flight outings at the Allianz Arena by a combined score of 22-2! As the division’s most prolific home team with 27 goals, Bayern have averaged 4.5 per game, notably netting 11 before halftime.

On the other hand, Stuttgart’s transformation from last season’s relegation fighters to valid top-four contenders has been nothing short of impressive. Despite being knocked down from a three-match winning league streak with a 1-1 home draw against Leverkusen last weekend, ‘Die Schwaben’ ought to be confident here, knowing they only recently crashed Borussia Dortmund out of the DFB-Pokal, courtesy of a 2-0 home win. Sebastian Hoeness’ highl-flyers have also emerged victorious in four of their last five away league matches (L1), notably bagging 2+ goals in each triumph. But there’s a significant downside, with Stuttgart not only going winless on their four most recent Bundesliga visits to Bayern (D2, L2) but conceding multiple goals on each occasion.
