Bayern Munich vs PSG

Bayern Munich will be looking to defend a 1-0 first-leg advantage when they take on PSG in the second leg of their mouth-watering Champions League last-16 tie at the Allianz Arena.

Former PSG youth academy graduate Kingsley Coman helped Bayern Munich triumph in Paris. The ‘Bavarians’ have suffered elimination only twice in the 22 previous knockout ties in the Champions League after winning the first leg, most recently bowing out to Inter Milan in 2010/11. Playing at home will only strengthen their hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals for the fourth year running, with Bayern racking up an eye-catching 15 wins in their last 17 home outings in Europe’s elite competition (D1, L1). Moreover, Julian Nagelsmann’s men have won three of their four previous home meetings with PSG in Munich (L1), though they did lose their last H2H at the Allianz Arena in the 2020/21 quarter-finals. As the only side in this season’s Champions League to have won all seven matches, the record-time Bundesliga champions should take the field in high spirits.

The same goes for PSG, who have won three consecutive Ligue 1 games, netting 3+ goals on each occasion since the first-leg defeat at home. After rediscovering their scoring touch, ‘Les Parisiens’ will be looking to defy history, having failed to make it out of four of the five previous Champions League ties in which they’ve lost the first leg. Worryingly, though, the joint-record French champions remain the only side left in the competition yet to keep a clean sheet this season. On a more positive note, after losing back-to-back competitive away matches by 2+ goals ‘to one,’ PSG hammered fellow Ligue 1 title hopefuls Marseille 3-0 on their most recent travel.
