Bayern Munich vs Monaco

AlpenbauerSportpark is the venue as Bayern Munich and Monaco go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking pre-season friendly.

Bayern Munich’s final warm-up fixture ahead of their German Super Cup clash against RB Leipzig comes off the back of a sensational come-from-behind 4-3 win over Liverpool, their third victory in four pre-season matches (L1). Bringing the tail-end of the 2022/23 campaign into the equation, none of Bayern’s last ten outings have ended as a draw (W7, L3), with nine of those ten results (wins/losses) seeing the winner on the day net 2+ goals. Three of Bayern’s four summer friendlies have featured 2+ second-half strikes and at least one beyond the 80th minute, highlighting the potential for plenty of late action.

In the meantime, Adi Hutter’s Monaco wasted a first-half lead in last week’s Emirates Cup, eventually losing to Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, making it two defeats in a row. Before that dip in form, ‘Les Monégasques’ had won three consecutive pre-season friendlies by an aggregate score of 8-3, with all eight goals they scored in that sequence coming beyond halftime. However, Hutter’s attacking-minded philosophy has taken its toll at the back, as his men have only kept one clean sheet in his first seven matches in charge. It’s also worth noting they’ve conceded at least one first-half goal in their last three games.
